Todd Doherty is the Member of Parliament for the riding of Cariboo Prince George, first elected in October 2015.  

Mr. Doherty has represented Canada throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the America’s on trade missions, industry conferences and on industry regulatory panels.

Mr. Doherty was most recently named Shadow Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. In previous parliaments he has served as Deputy Shadow Minister of National Defence, Shadow Minister for Fisheries and Oceans, the Canadian Coast Guard and Asia-Pacific Gateway, as well as Shadow Minister for Transport.

Mr. Doherty was privileged to champion Bill C-211, An Act Respecting a Federal Framework on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Bill C-211, the first of its kind in the world, requires the Minister of Health to develop a comprehensive federal framework to address the challenges of recognizing the symptoms and providing timely diagnosis and treatment of PTSD.

MP Doherty’s latest effort to bring an easy to remember three-digit suicide prevention number to Canada (988) has resulted in the passage of a unanimous consent motion in the House of Commons. Todd’s motion led to the creation of a national easy to remember 3-digit suicide prevention hotline – 988, which will be up and running in the Fall of 2023.  

Mr. Doherty and his wife Kelly have been successful small business owners for over 20 years. Together they have four children, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Kassi, Jordan and one grand daughter, Ren Kathleen.
