Kayla Moleschi Brings Home Bronze Medal

British Columbia has it’s very first medal from the Rio Games, and it belongs to none other than Williams Lake’s very own, Kayla Moleschi. Kayla is the only BC born player on the Canadian Women’s Rugby Sevens Team. The team won the bronze medal game against Britain 33-10 in a hard fought battle.

“We are so proud of Kayla, and the entire women’s sevens team,” said Todd. “Kayla, you have taken your sport from Williams Lake and all over the world to the Olympics, and now you are coming home an Olympic Medalist. Congratulations on this momentous achievement, and I look forward to watching you as you continue your very promising career in women’s rugby.”

This win marks a historic landmark in Canadian sports, specifically in women’s rugby. This is Canada’s first Olympic rugby medal in both women’s and men’s games.

With the attention drawn through this team’s dramatic run to the Bronze Medal, rugby enthusiasts are hopeful that youth in Canada will take notice and help the sport continue to grow and flourish within the country.

“It is indeed a good day for the future of Canadian rugby,” added Todd. “And a great day for all Canadians. I will be watching with bated breath as the games continue in Rio, and I would like to wish the entire Canadian Olympic Team the best of luck. Go Canada Go!”
